Animal Alert: Painted Turtle
Today we've got a guest post from an animal expert, my 5-year-old son, Archer:
It all started off with me and my grandpa going down to the lake to catch some fish with a green net. But instead we caught a turtle! Me and my grandpa thought it was a bog turtle, but my mommy figured out it was a painted turtle. And we put it in the big cardboard chandelier box because it had lots of room for stuff the turtle would like. Me and my two-year-old cousin Khloe were collecting grass and we made a raft out of it. We put the raft in a frisbee full of water. It was also a good day for treasure hunts. So we went down to the lake to get a clue and that's when we released the painted turtle. At first it looked like he wanted to stay. Then he swam away into our lake.
FUN FACT: According to fossils, painted turtles have been around for 15 million years.
That's my dad holding a turtle. I told him to feel the shell. When I picked the turtle up (me, Archer) I dropped him on his shell and he spun really fast. I didn't think he really liked it.
