Concrete Leaves: For the Modern Gardener
Garden ornaments tend to be fussy, gaudy, and just plain strange, but we found the perfect gift for the design-conscious farmer or stylish windowsill gardener in your life. Todd Carr's handcrafted concrete leaves, sold at Oak Hill's Hort and Pott, fuse botanical beauty with an urban edge. The larger leaves ($45) lend serious style to a rock garden or flower bed. The smaller ones ($25-$35) could find a home in a container garden like mine (hint, hint!) or could make a decorative indoor object for a plant lover with a black thumb.
The concrete leaf pictured above was priced at $45 and appears to be sold out on the Hort and Pott website, but as you can in the photo below, the shop has tons of concrete leaves on display. Contact Hort and Pott or stop by during weekend to choose your own one-of-a-kind leaf.
When he isn't sculpting leaves, Todd (pictured above) also teaches wreathing workshops.
Hort and Pott is located at 7829 NY-81 in Oak Hill, NY. The shop is open by appointment and most weekends from 10am to 4pm. Sign up for 2017 wreath-making workshops here, or check here to see if workshops are scheduled for the seasons to come.
