Kingston Standard: Beer, Pizza, Oysters, Cocktails, Pretzels, Heaven

Kingston Standard serves beer, wine, cocktails, pretzels, oysters, pizza, and salad, and that’s pretty much it. They concisely cover anything I would ever want to eat or drink at a restaurant, and they’re doing it all really well. We found our new Kingston go-to spot!

With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, it’s one of those rare locations where you could get a negroni with an old friend, grab a round of beers with some buddies, or share a couple of pizzas with your family, and be just as blissed out in any permutation.

Soft pretzels with a dollop of butter at Kingston Standard.

The pretzels were delivered to our table quickly with a big hunk of melty butter, curing any crankiness my sweet angles might have needed to overcome.

Kingston Standard’s kolsch, a very fine beer.

The Kingston Standard Kölsch is cold, crisp, and foamy. It brings to mind the beers of Suarez Family Brewing, our local gold standard for simple, straight-ahead, flawlessly brewed beer.

Oysters at Kingston Standard.

The oysters are fresh and cool, served on ice with grated horseradish, lemon, and tiny droppers of hot sauce and mignonette.

Kingston Standard’s pepperoni pizza.

The pepperoni pizza featured a generous layering of curled-edge ‘roni cups, creamy mozzarella, and tangy crushed tomatoes on a sourdough crust with just the right amount of char and chew.

Outdoor seating at Kingston Standard, with a Boulevardier cocktail.

I always feel a little bougie and lame when I order a Boulevardier, so I made my husband order one for me! It’s just a Negroni with whiskey replacing gin alongside the sweet vermouth and Campari. Kingston Standard’s version is warming, bitter, and delicious.

Indoor seating at Kingston Standard.

There’s indoor seating for chillier times, and orders are placed at the counter, which keeps things pleasantly casual.

Kingston Standard’s crushable 12-oz cans of Pale Ale and Kölsch.

Don’t miss the stocked fridge, where you can grab a few four-packs of Kingston Standard’s handsome cans to-go.

Kingston Standard has it all—and a parking lot, too.
