Best New Pizza Destination in the Catskills: Woodhouse Pizza
Is there anything better than eating pizza outside in the Catskills? At Woodhouse Pizza, the new restaurant at Greenville’s Woodhouse Lodge, there’s some next-level bliss going on. Here, the pizza is made with fresh ingredients from neighborhood farms and they’re pairing pies with excellent cocktails, natural wines, local beer, and crave-worthy small plates.
I usually avoid tiki drinks due to a pineapple sensitivity, but I loved the refreshing, not-too-sweet, pineapple-free Woodhouse Rum Punch, which is made with Diplomatico Rum, Mandarine Napoleon, grapefruit and lime juice, orgeat syrup, and grenadine. It paired well with a plate of crunchy-salty snacks.
I love a fancy little bite with my cocktail, so I was happy to see Woodhouse Pizza’s selection of Italian-inspired bar snacks. We chose the creamy-briny-spicy mozzarella and anchovy-stuffed peppadew peppers, marinated black and green olives, and crispy, salty roasted chickpeas and fava beans.
Woodhouse Pizza serves a wide enough selection of pizzas, salads, small plates, and vegetables for overnight guests to dine there for a couple of nights without overlapping dishes, and anyone stopping by for dinner is invited to check out the Woodhouse Lodge grounds. As for seating arrangements, there’s indoor dining in the lodge’s old dance hall, plenty of picnic tables outside, and also some chairs circling a fire pit, for those who’d like to linger after dinner.
A white pizza with ‘roni cups (that is, heat-curled pepperoni) is my kids’ dream-come-true. The setting of Woodhouse Pizza, with the Catskill Mountain breeze flowing through the yellow canopies and twinkling string lights, is mine.
Woodhouse Pizza is located on the grounds of Woodhouse Lodge, 3807 County Route 26, Greenville, NY; (518) 819 1993. We always recommend calling ahead in case there’s a special event, but current hours are Thursday to Saturday 3pm–10pm and Sunday 2pm–8pm.
