New York Restaurant, Catskill + The Absolute Best Takeout Family Meal
New York Restaurant in Catskill serves some of the best Polish (and American!) food in upstate New York. It’s just a 10-minute drive from Hudson and 20 minutes from Saugerties. We are long-time fans of their hearty farm-fresh fare, seasonal salads, great kids menu, and cold-crisp-foamy Zywiec lager. And now, they are offering the most delicious and ridiculously inexpensive take-home family meal.
It’s call the Polska Pack and it includes 2 giant links of kielbasa, an extra-large jar of house sauerkraut, 3 dozen frozen pierogi in 3 different flavors (such as truffle-parmesan, jalapeño & potato, and sweet potato & kale), and a generous container of insanely rich and tasty bacon-onion chutney for the low price of $39.95. It’s enough to feed 4 hungry adults.
The Natasha’s Carry Out Market package labels refer to Natasha Witka, New York Restaurants owner, a Catskill native with Polish roots.
Consider that 4 house pierogi, prepared by the chef in-house, cost $7. So if you’re getting 36 pierogi, that’s $63 worth of pierogi. If you got a little kielbasa on a bun, it would cost $9.50, but here you’re getting about 4 times as much kielbasa. Our Polska Pack (which we paid for online without mentioning the blog — this is not a sponsored post!) included a 2 of their 13-inch Polish sausages. I wanted to show you how big they are, so I actually measured them:
I love a bargain, but this kinda feels like I’m stealing from my favorite restaurant in Catskill! While you’re there, you might as well spend a little more and get some food to hold you over until dinner. You don’t want to miss the cauliflower wings, which aren’t wings at all — just the best, heartiest, never-mushy fried cauliflower glazed in a light buffalo glaze.
There are a bunch of safely spaced tables out front, and the large indoor area accommodates socially distanced tables. That said, we had a New York Restaurant party in our parked car. Other car-friendly fare includes the soft and buttery Bavarian pretzels, the incredible hand-cut fries, and the New York, NY flatbread with grilled chicken, bacon, baby arugula, garlic aioli, and melted mozzarella. The kids meals weren’t listed on the online ordering site, but we were able to call those in. The kids approved.
And so, Ramona’s love affair with New York Restaurant continues. Here’s a flashback to last summer, when we were reminded that crying and pierogi don’t mix. Wipe your tears, and head on over to New York Restaurant.
